Negative keywords are words or phrases that will prevent your ads from being triggered. If you include a carefully selected group of negative keywords in your ad group, you can target customers with much greater precision.

For instance, a real estate agent who only deals in residential properties may want to include the negative keyword "commercial" to avoid irrelevant clicks from people searching for the terms "commercial real estate". Negative keywords can also help you avoid irrelevant clicks from searchers using your keywords with a different meaning than the one you intend.
